Ammonia Scrubbing Elements
Phosphoric-acid-impregnated borosilicate filter elements that simultaneously capture particles and neutralise ammonia (NH₃) — protecting NOx analysers from cross-sensitivity in SCR/DeNOx emission monitoring.

AW K-Type — Standard Temperature
PVDF-bonded acid-washed elements for ammonia removal up to 150 °C
K-type acid-washed elements use a PVDF fluorocarbon binder, making them chemically resistant and suitable for sample gas temperatures up to 150 °C (300 °F). The borosilicate glass microfibre medium is impregnated with phosphoric acid (H₃PO₄), which reacts with ammonia (NH₃) in the gas stream to form ammonium phosphate — a stable salt that remains trapped in the element. This removes ammonia slip from the sample without interfering with other gas components measured downstream.
Key Features
- Grade HE: 99.99 % efficiency at 0.01 µm — simultaneous particle filtration and NH₃ neutralisation
- Phosphoric acid impregnation reacts with NH₃ to form stable ammonium phosphate
- Does not affect NOx, CO, CO₂, SO₂, or other measured gas components
- Direct drop-in for all standard R+F housings — no system modification required
- PVDF binder for chemical resistance in corrosive flue gas environments
- Disposable — replace when ammonia capacity is exhausted
- Delivery approx. 2 weeks from order

AW S-Type — High Temperature
Silica-bonded acid-washed elements for flue gas up to 480 °C
S-type acid-washed elements use a silica (inorganic) binder that withstands temperatures up to 480 °C (900 °F), making them suitable for hot-side sampling points where the flue gas has not yet been cooled. Same phosphoric acid impregnation as the K-type, same ammonia neutralisation mechanism — but thermally rated for direct extraction from high-temperature ducts in power stations, cement kilns, glass furnaces, and waste incineration plants.
Key Features
- Grade HE: 99.99 % efficiency at 0.01 µm — identical NH₃ scrubbing capacity as K-type
- Silica binder withstands 480 °C — suitable for hot extractive systems
- Used in direct-extractive CEMS where sample is not cooled before filtration
- Same physical dimensions and housing compatibility as K-type
- Disposable — replace when ammonia capacity is exhausted
- Delivery approx. 2 weeks from order
