How Often to Change Analyser Filter Elements — Interval, ΔP and Visual Checks

In a refinery or chemical plant, dozens of small filter housings sit in analyser shelters. Without a clear change rule, elements are changed only after an analyser fails. A fixed interval for coalescing elements, a differential-pressure check and one standard element format make maintenance plannable.

Recognise the Symptoms

  • Filter elements are changed only after the analyser shows a fault
  • Different analysers use many different element types and spare parts
  • No record of when each sample filter was last changed
  • Elements discoloured or soaked when the housing is finally opened
  • Spare elements are missing when maintenance is due

Root Causes

No defined change interval for coalescing elements

Differential pressure across small sample filters is not checked

Too many element types in one plant, so stocking is difficult

Attempts to clean coalescing elements

they are not cleanable

Contaminant load varies with process conditions and season

Diagnostic Checklist

  • 1Change coalescing elements (RF-C-12057-HE / RF-CS-12057-HE) every 3 months, or earlier when the differential pressure rises
  • 2Check particulate elements (RF-P-12057) at the same visit and change them by condition
  • 3Standardise on one element format — 12 × 57 mm fits RF-H-120, RF-H-122 and RF-H-126
  • 4Use RF-DIF-BN50SI with colour-change indicator at low-pressure analyser inlets: red on the outside means replace
  • 5Keep at least one spare element per filter on site and record each change per analyser tag
  • 6Send us your element dimensions — we check RF elements as functional alternatives for existing housings
