The Challenge

Process gas streams in industrial environments carry a complex mixture of contaminants — particulate matter, liquid aerosols, condensed hydrocarbons, and corrosive compounds such as H₂S, CO₂, and mercaptans. Left unfiltered, these contaminants damage downstream equipment, compromise product purity, and create safety hazards.

In high-pressure applications — from natural gas production and transmission to chemical injection systems and CNG dispensing — standard filtration often fails. Housings must withstand extreme pressures (up to 400 bar), resist corrosive media, and maintain filtration efficiency over extended service intervals without introducing dead volume or flow restrictions.

Additionally, many process gas applications involve sour gas service (NACE MR0175 compliance), cryogenic conditions in LNG processing, or high-purity requirements for pharmaceutical and food-grade gases, each demanding specialised materials and certifications.

Typical Process Gas Filtration System

A well-designed process gas filtration system addresses all contaminant types through a staged approach, ensuring downstream equipment and processes are fully protected.

    Pre-filtration: Bulk liquid and large particulate removal (>5 µm) using RF-P series particulate elements, protecting downstream coalescing stages.

    Coalescing stage: Liquid aerosol and fine particulate removal (0.01 µm) using RF-C series coalescing elements — achieves oil carryover below 0.01 mg/m³.

    Adsorption stage: Hydrocarbon vapour and odour removal using RF-AC activated carbon cartridges in RF-H-134CC/146CC adsorption housings.
